•Eat high protein meals and drink plenty of water prior to your appointment.
•Try to avoid alcohol, fish oils, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin or other over the counter blood thinners for 7 days prior to your appointment. If you are on blood thinners for medical reasons, please let us know ahead of time.
•To help minimize bruising as well as speed up healing, we recommend Arnica Montana (available at LaVida, if needed). Place 3 or 4 pellets under your tongue, 3 times a day, the day before your appointment and the morning of your appointment.
POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
• Do not touch, press, rub, or manipulate the injected areas for 6 hours after treatment. You can cause irritation and infection.
• No dental work (including cleanings) 2 weeks after injections.
• Avoid exercise for 3 days after treatment.
• Avoid IPL, laser treatments, chemical peels and microneedling treatments for 1 month.
• Always wear sunscreen, preferably a physical one with zinc or titanium as active ingredients.
• May use Ibuprofen and ice for mild discomfort post procedure and resume all other supplements that have a blood thinning effect such as fish oil etc.
• We recommend you not use Retin-A or like products (ex. Kinerase, Tazarac) for three days after treatment to avoid increased irritation and redness.
• It is best to wear no makeup or lipstick until the next day. Earlier use can cause pustules. If you must wear makeup we recommend a good quality mineral makeup. (such as Advanced Minerals, Jane Iredale, Youngblood, etc.)
• Please remember one side may heal faster than other side.
Possible Risks and Side Effects
•Discomfort: Discomfort may be experienced during blood draw where there is a slight pinch to insert the needle for the blood collection as well as during the procedure if PRF is injected into the site. Repeat injections may be necessary.
•Bruising, Swelling, Infection: With any minimally invasive procedure, bruising of the treated area may occur. Additionally, there may be swelling noted. Finally, skin infection is rare, but always a possibility with any injection or incision into the skin.
•Scarring: Scar at entry point is extremely rare but must always be considered a possibility when entering the skin. Delayed wound healing and/or scarring may occur.
•Contraindications: Smokers may have less response to this treatment as toxins in smoke block the response of the Stem Cells. Cell death or Fibrosis may occur.
