What are the Juvederm Facial Fillers?
Juvederm facial fillers are an FDA-approved family of dermal fillers for implantation into the skin for the correction of moderate facial folds. Juvederm improves your appearance by lifting and adding volume to the wrinkles and folds in the treatment area. Juvederm is also indicated for submucosal implantation for lip augmentation in patients over the age of 21.
Juvéderm Volbella
Juvéderm Volbella is the softest and thinnest filler in the Juvederm family for smoothing fine, shallow lines. With a low water affinity, it won’t provide much plumping but it also causes the least amount of swelling.
Juvéderm Vollure
Juvéderm Vollure offers a happy medium of durability and spreadability making it like the middle sister between Volbella and Voluma. It is soft and supple like Volbella but it has a higher G Prime (firmness) so it can be injected more deeply to correct deeper folds around the mouth. Vollure provides some structure but also allows for more natural facial expressions and movements.
Juvéderm Voluma
Juvéderm Voluma XC has a thicker, stronger consistency making it ideal for providing structure to the face. With a higher G Prime and a low water affinity, Voluma is most often used to lift the cheeks, strengthen the chin, and correct irregularities on the nose. It can provide structural support for up to 2 years.
Juvéderm Ultra
Juvéderm Ultra is often used for lip augmentation because it has both a low G prime and high water affinity, so it is soft, supple and good at retaining moisture for a nice plumping effect.
Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC
In addition to including lidocaine to help reduce any pain during injection, Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is thicker and more viscous than Ultra. Ultra Plus provides more dramatic results in areas with deeper lines and hollows in the skin but these same qualities make it less appropriate for softer areas such as the lips.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Arnica is to be taken the day before your appointment (a couple of doses) and the morning of your appointment, we have found that there is much less bruising and swelling even with lip injections, thus a more favorable outcome with less down time! Arnica is a naturopathic anti-inflammatory that helps with swelling and bruising. It can be purchased at Sprouts, Whole Foods, any Vitamin Shop like Hi Health. We also sell Arnica at LaVida Medspa for only $7.
